Al-Qaeda Trained by CIA, Difficult to Identify: Govt. Spokesman

TEHRAN, June 25, (Mehr News Agency) – Iranian government spokesman Abdullah Ramezanzadeh said on Wednesday that since the al-Qaeda members had been trained by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), it is difficult to identify them quickly.

Given the complexity of the al-Qaeda network, Ramzanzadeh told reporters that it is difficult to apprehend or identify al-Qaeda operatives who hold many forged documents and are well trained by the CIA.

Asked whether Tehran has arrested all al-Qaeda members in Iran, Ramezanzadeh said just a handful have been identified, but gave no further details.

He added that Iran has asked those who have information that could assist in the identification and apprehension of al-Qaeda members to provide it to Iran.
